Caviar: A Few Notices, Curiosities And Some Advice For Tasting It (Part A)
by hally obermyer - Monday, 12 May 2008, 07:47 PM
Anyone in the world
By David Russo A few notices, curiosities and some advice for tasting caviar a delicacy originating in Russia but nowadays imitated and produced almost everywhere (Part 1). Like it or not, everyone knows that it is a Russian specialty, inseparable from vodka... The word, however, is of Turkish origin: "Kawiar" became "caviale" in Italian, then "caviar" in French, all this before the Russians even arrived upon the Volga River or the Caspian Sea in the 16th century. Before the word entered into the Russian lexicon, roe from all fish, including the sturgeon and salmon, was referred to as "ikra", a word of Slavic origins decidedly. The first to consume caviar were Muslims living in the Caspian region, who had to content themselves with the eggs due to their religion prohibiting them from eating sturgeon meat. There is no question, however, that the Russian czars and their subjects made up for lost time in consuming sturgeon roe. After the fall of the Soviet Union caviar was no longer produced exclusively in Russia and Iran but also in Azerbaidjan, Kazakistan and Turkmenistan. In other words, it was also produced by the nations along the banks of the Caspian Sea who rushed to take advantage of the prolific riches of the Caspian. According to experts, the pressure exerted by these nations combined with the ecological disasters of the Volga River and the Caspian Sea will bring about, in 7-10 years the near-complete disappearance of black-caviar. Enjoy it while it lasts! Caviar can be fresh, not sterilized, thereby fully preserving its flavour. Fresh caviar, however, must be kept refrigerated and has a limited duration, from 2 to 6 months, depending on the type of manufacturing. Sterilized caviar has a long preservation time, it usually comes in a glass jar and can be kept for a longer time at room temperature, but it definitely loses its flavour. The eggs of the Beluga are the largest and reach 2.5 millimetres in diameter. They are considered the most valuable when they have clear shadings; those of the Sevruga are instead the smallest (about 1 millimetre), but they are characterized by an enhanced flavour; Osetra (about 2 millimetres) vaguely recalls the taste of walnut, has a clear green-grey colour and a gilded quality. Sterlet caviar was only eaten by the families of the Scià and the Zar. The sturgeon (Acipenser sturio) is a prehistoric lance like fish with very small, fine scales and an elongated snout with four tactile feelers at the tip. The beluga sturgeon (Huso huso) is the largest, weighing up to 400 Kg and measuring up to 4 meters in length. It is extremely rare (fewer than 100 are caught per year) and varies in colour from a clear grey to black. The osetra sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii colchicus) weighs up to 200 Kg and measures up to 2 meters. The sevruga sturgeon (Acipenser stellatus) is very thin, weighing up to 30 Kg and measuring up to 1.5 meters. Beluga caviar can comprise up to 15% of the sturgeon's weight! The beluga sturgeon is a wild and robust fish and is hard to catch. It travels to the streams to lay its eggs only every 2-4 years. How To Win the Job-Hunting Game
by hally obermyer - Sunday, 4 May 2008, 01:26 PM
Anyone in the world
By Davis Goss When I got over the initial shock of being urged to "seek alternative employment" I found myself, like so many others, out beating the bushes looking for a job. I found that I was just another one of the sheep following the same traditional job-hunting procedures as everyone else. I wrote resumes, mailed them to the same prospects that everyone else was sending theirs to and found little comfort knowing that mine was included in a pile that was growing bigger every day. To be successful amid all this competition would be tantamount to winning the lottery! It sure looked like the odds were stacked against me; especially after enduring the long non-event waiting periods that never ended. I got the same frustrating non-results and suffered the same heartaches, delays and disappointment as did all the other sheep. This did't seem right ! I began to realize that I was being victimized by a "me-too" situation. I was awakened to the fact that I was offering essentially the same thing the same way at the same time to the same people. My situation became dependent upon someone else in a system over which I had no control. I had yielded the control of my future to a system that made me an impersonal pawn in a game that didn't really care whether I won or not! This was totally unacceptable! I did some deep soul searching. I got "me" out of the way and took a cold, hard, impersonal look at the facts. I was shocked at what I found It was this: EVERYBODY IS TRYING TO GET A JOB ! That didn't sound shocking on the surface, but then it hit me: All these sheep (myself included!) are out there focusing on trying to get a job. GET 1) a highly competitive "something" that was in short supply that everybody else was competing to get and 2) a "something" that most prospects didn't even have to give. I couldn't afford to play this game! I had to start working. I'm darn good at what I do. I deserve better than this. There MUST be a better way. Reason and logic forced me to accept the conclusion that if I wanted to break away from this dead end system I had ro make some changes. I had to break the pattern of sameness that plagued everyone else. If I were to change a procedure that doesn't work, I would have to reverse it and implement a procedure that does work. But how? First, I must realize that, contrary to what many seem to think, A prospect/business does not exist for the purpose of supplying jobs. They are in business to make a profit by providing a service to customers in their particular market. Whether I was looking for employment, wanting to progress in my present job or set a goal to accept new challenges in a new relationship, I better stop trying to GET something and put myself in a position where I could reverse things and GIVE something. I must GIVE something to the prospect/employer that he needs. NEEDS! As I thought about it I realized that my needs would be met only as I met the needs of another. So I decided to by-pass the system and re-focus my efforts from what I wanted and needed to finding out what my prospect needed. How could they increase profits? How could they operate more efficiently? How could they increase productivity and sales? How could they become a more dominant factor in their market? Let's be honest, it's not always easy to break away from the rigid, static, limiting elements that restrict creative thinking and the spontaneous flow of ideas. Here is where we need to get quiet and invoke our imaginative skills and ponder abstract alternatives to how and what changes a business might consider to realize greater profits and growth. I did some homework, put together a comprehensive game plan, presented it to the appropriate department heads and decision makers of businesses in my area and was able to show my prospects how they could accomplish their objectives and why they needed me and my talents and training and experience to make the plan work. This simple procedure resulted in more than one opportunity. In my particular case, I took on more than one "job" and was able to contribute to lots of businesses. I've received hundreds of "jobs" in this way. In fact, without realizing it, I found that I had become a consultant and professional problem solver to the business community. That was more than 40 years ago. Some things don=t change and these procedures work just as well today as they ever did. The basic axiom "find a need and fill it" is still relevant. "You fill your own needs by filling the needs of another" has been proven since earliest recorded history. This cannot be done if you're satisfied to just run with the pack, passively wait in the employment line and make your success dependent upon the mathematical statistics inherent in traditional job-hunting routines. You must depart from the pack and offer the prospect something he really needs and that you are the one best qualified to give it to him. Trade Show Exhibit Display Booths
by hally obermyer - Tuesday, 29 April 2008, 03:31 AM
Anyone in the world
By Eddie Tobey A tradeshow exhibit booth is a stall where you display your products and make your demonstrations to potential buyers. It can be used to launch new products, highlight a brand, or create market recognition. The total cost of owning a tradeshow exhibit booth depends on the design, weight, construction, and operation of your booth. By modifying its size and design, you will reduce your rental costs for electric flat cords, and save you the labor and machinery involved for set-up and dismantle. Modifying its materials and weight will also reduce your freight-handling expenses. Your tradeshow exhibit booth should build a presence that will stand out from the crowd and be remembered, maintain the attention of current customers, and attract that of the potential ones. Eventually, it will fall into the quality of your products and services and the way you present them to your audience. A well-presented, eye-catching exhibit booth will help you reach your goal. Thus, an effective booth design is important. A well-designed booth filled with customer-dedicated staff will give your company a professional image. It will advertise the name of your company to everyone who passes by. You can design your name with attractive graphics and place it on stand-alone panels and signs that illustrate your product and its uses. You can set down booth flooring and erect back walls inside your booth. Match them to the color of your booth to make your area more defined and your presence well enhanced. Devise your booth so visitors can be comfortable finding their way through. Also, define carefully your exhibit space so you can set boundaries between yours and your neighbors booths. The wall that divides you and your competitors will give you and your customers privacy. A good firm booth can also maintain the focus of your clients to what you are demonstrating to them, avoiding distractive commotion from outside. Tradeshow exhibits today are becoming more glamorous, flashy, and bigger. Your exhibit booth doesnt need to be extravagant to match up. What buyers want to see is a commitment to providing a quality product or service. A high quality exhibit booth conveys that message. Thus, your tradeshow exhibit booth is a marketing opportunity that gives you the chance to grab potential customers attention and make a quick good impression on them. Having such a chance will provide you opportunities to apply your selling tactics, close the deals, and generate more sales. TV Critic Reviews "Higglytown Heroes"
by hally obermyer - Sunday, 27 April 2008, 01:44 AM
Anyone in the world
By Kristin Johnson As aunt of a preschooler and an aspiring voiceover actress (I knew all those hours of watching Bugs Bunny would come in handy), I know all the kids shows as well as every kids DVD out there. In my opinion, theres no better way celebrities can recoup their outrageous salaries than entertaining and sometimes educating kids. And They Might Be Giants get the cooler than Elvis vote for singing the theme song to one of Playhouse Disneys newest hits, Higglytown Heroes, which is also on their CD/DVD for kids, "Here Come the ABCs." For those of you not familiar with all things Higgly (an adjective used as much as Smurfy but not, thank Higgles, as a verb), the series centers on a small town and four tots named Eubie, Kip, and siblings Wayne and Twinkle. Think South Park with better art and no foul mouths. The strongest language is, Aw, pickles, usually uttered by Twinkle (pinker than Trista Rehn Sutter!) after her fanciful ideas for solving the kids dilemmas get gently punctured by Fran, a friendly squirrel voiced by Edie McClurg. In each two-episode half-hour show, the Higgly Kids experience common, innocent childhood events such as finding a caterpillar, hosting a television party for the Happy Hairy Higgly Monster Primetime Special, losing a tooth, Kips Grandpa locked in the bathroom, or caring for an unhappy bird. The kids try to solve their problems, guided by Fran who is the voice of reason, helped by their loving families and the ever-enthusiastic oddly Bill and Ted-ish Pizza Guyplus someone special. Then comes the inevitable song Someone special, who could it be? This jobs too big for you and me. We need some help! But never fear-o, It looks like a job for aHigglytown Hero! A Higglytown Hero! Some of the heroes are natural choices, especially after September 11: Police Woman, Firefighter, etc. But how many of us think of sanitation workers, electricians, plumbers, gardeners, mail carriers (voiced by Kathie Lee Gifford) and farmers as heroes? Or a telephone operator (voiced by Cyndi Lauper)? Although the heroes have celebrity voices, the Higgly Kids discover that the real stars all around them are the people who solve problems every day. Some of the dilemmas get a little ridiculous from an adult perspective. For example, when Kip climbs a tree to save a beloved neighborhood cat and her kittens, his friends help him. Why, when he gets stuck, cant they help him back down? Ahemwhen was the last time you tripped and panicked? You need help in your own life every day without thinking about it. The beauty of Higglytown Heroes is that it celebrates working together, having fun together, and the Higgly Kids as well as their families never take for granted the Heroes in their lives. The Electrician (Lance Bass) gets invited to share in the Higgly Monsters TV party after repairing the circuitry for Kips house. The Fire Fighter (Donald Faison) who gets Kip out of the tree shares in a birthday party for the neighborhood cat. How many of us go out of our way to thank the people who make our lives easier? Sometimes we forget to see them as people with needs and feelings. We even forget to see our own families as heroes. Kips Grandmama (voice of "Golden Girl" Betty White, with Rose Nylund-like hairdo) knits the kids sweaters. Kips real-estate agent Mom, Bitty, acts like the soul of 50s domesticity, but gets rewarded when Kip and his friends make her a get-well card. Waynes Mom, Plunkie, shows the kids a caterpillar and drives them to the beach, while Wayne and Twinkle's Uncle Lemmo cooks them breakfast at his diner and, in the Christmas special, drives Wayne and Twinkle about in his sleigh. Interestingly, Higgly families arent always nuclear families, something Disney portrays as normal without calling attention to it. Kips family is the proverbial nuclear family, with twin sisters, a baby sister, a mom and dad, Fripp, (who operates a hot dog cart), and two grandparents who either live in Kips large house or visit constantly. Twinkle and Waynes mom seems to be a single parent (although all are African-American, no one has screamed racism yet), and Eubie is apparently being raised by his Southern-accented Aunt Mellie and Uncle Zooter, with visits from his Southern-accented Grandpop Crank (a farmer). In many ways, Higglytown is idealized. No one really seems to worry about jobs, money or status. People go to the library, and a Librarian is a Higglytown Hero! The kids work real hard and take responsibility (gasp) by thinking up ways to help themselves and their families, and in each episode there are little moral lessons and advice (take care of your pets, dont use too much electricity, make someone smile) to show the kids how they can grow up to beHigglytown Heroes! Cynics and naysayers will deride this as kiddie pablum. I call it a refreshing dose of reality and a tribute to the heroes all around us. The Disney animators are Higglytown Heroes for creating this show. Author's Note: After this review originally made the rounds on the Web, actor Rory Thost, who provides the voice of "Kip," was kind enough to be a "Higglytown Hero" and make my day by telling me how much he and the cast liked the review. For all of those who think our kids are complete troublemakers, young Master Rory Thost is thirteen: http://imdb.com/name/nm1191277/?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnxteD0yMHxzZz0xfGxtPTIwMHx0dD1vbnxwbj0wfHE9cm9yeSB0aG9zdHxodG1sPTF8bm09b24_;fc=1;ft=4. His showbiz career is already longer than mine! More importantly, in a world where bad behavior by celebrities is sadly the norm, this young man remains polite, mature, well-educated and well-grounded. Author's Note II: This series gets better and better. The continuity is even on a par with most primetime shows. Kip has adopted a dog named "Shadow," who makes guest appearances; we meet Fran's parents after seeing them in the Christmas special; Eubie's Grandpop becomes a Higglytown Hero; Eubie's bird Flappy makes appearances from time to time. The Firefighter returns. The Electrician proposes to the Teacher, and Pizza Guy and Fran get to be Higglytown Heroes! Author's Note III: Disney has created Higglytown Heroes Toys. This series has, er, legs! ESOL Teachers Skills

By Sharon White The significance of English as the global lingua franca has increased manifold in recent times. Western countries, due to their economic stability, offer a wide variety of opportunities both in trade and employment for people from developing and under-developed nations. Hence, the past decades have seen an influx of migrants coming and settling in countries like USA, UK, Australia and Canada. These people who are not native speakers of English, and are relatively new to usage of the language, fall under the category of English speakers of other languages (ESOL). Because of the difference in cultural, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds, teaching such a group of learners becomes a hefty onus for any teacher who does not possess the required level of interpersonal skills. An ESOL teacher teaching students faces several challenges to train them to use English language as a means of communication. Usually ESOL students are from diverse backgrounds. This makes the teachers job all the more complex. Often ESOL teachers have a feeling that they are ineffective in their role, which denies them job satisfaction. It appears that traditional teacher education systems havent envisaged such an exponential growth in the number of ESOL learners. Therefore, the teacher training methodologies in the past have overlooked the necessity to incorporate sufficient modules to prepare teachers for this specific category. Some ESOL students are found to develop certain challenging behaviours, the causes of which stem from the stress the learners undergo because of their inability to appropriately respond to the learning expectations. To overcome this, educators must realize their peculiar problems and devise teaching methods that make the learning process easy for them. Those teaching ESOL students require to be sensitive to the differences in the needs of students from diverse backgrounds. They must demonstrate an understanding attitude for helping the students develop to their full potential. It is crucial that ESOL teachers display patience and compassion in their approach. Best Acne Treatment: Saying Goodbye to the Problem
by hally obermyer - Saturday, 19 April 2008, 11:50 PM
Anyone in the world
By Bob Simons The best treatment for acne actually differs from one person to another. One particular treatment can work best for some people but not be effective for others. However, there are treatments that have successfully treated most people with acne problems. Some popular acne treatments that are widely available can really help those with acne conditions. To choose the best treatment, you should understand what it is actually involved. Acne is usually the result of hormonal changes and substances on your hair follicles and the sebaceous glands (oil glands) in the skin. This causes acne lesions to breakout and plugged pores commonly known as zits or pimples. Acne lesions normally appear on the your neck, face, shoulders, and chest. Although it is not a serious threat, it brings emotional distress to the majority of inflicted people. Acne sufferers are continuously searching for the best methods to reduce or completely get rid of their acne. The best acne treatment is to prevent it from attacking you in the first place. Though the real causes are not fully known, keeping your skin clean and eating a healthy diet is better for minimizing acne outbreaks. Having a diet which contains high amounts of fibers usually helps to reduce acne problems and if you avoid eating junk foods, chocolate, fried food, coffee, sugar and others will also help. These foods never directly contribute in producing acne but poor nutrition can worsen a current acne condition. In addition, these are the common foods that most people regularly eat today, making their diets unhealthy. There are vitamin supplements that help improve you nutrition levels. Acidophilus is among the more popular supplements when its taken two or three times a day in proper amounts. Others include chromium, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A, and vitamin B6. Many times the best acne treatment can be prescribed by your dermatologist or physician. Some people claim they have cured their acne with no medications involved. But it is highly recommended to seek medical help and take the prescribed medicine. This can be a very successful method for many people. Other options are using alternative treatments and herbal treatments for achieving good results. You need to deal with and understand certain issues regarding acne cures. If you are searching on the Internet to obtain information, then you should be careful. There are advertisements claiming that certain products can easily cure acne overnight or in a matter of a few days. You may have also encountered herbal treatment claims that seem unbelievable. Unfortunately 97% of these cures do not work every time. Keep in mind that when somebody wants to buy a solution to a problem, someone will make it available to you. Just know that they are going to make their solution appear very promising. In reality, the best approach you can take is preventing acne from occurring. And know that you can suffer acne problems for a long time before you can get rid of it entirely. Medications that can be bought without prescriptions should also be considered, but some may jeopardize your safety. However, a good cleanser, medicated cream or gel containing Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid can be applied to the affected areas and produce good results. But only choose and use one of these medications at a time because using the wrong combination can cause skin irritation that can last for a while. Moisturizers can also be used for keeping your skin moisturized while trying other products on the affected areas. Some over-the-counter acne medications can cause drying of your skin. If possible, use these treatments only two times a day or after work. Never conclude that advertised claims about incredible acne cures from either the internet or on TV are necessarily true. Some may be but it is far more advisable to choose acne skin care products and medications prescribed by your dermatologist and physician. How Someone Can Break Our Pure Heart?
by hally obermyer - Thursday, 17 April 2008, 04:35 AM
Anyone in the world
By Arvind Katoch To get the answer of this question is very difficult. Many times in life we love people with our pure heart. Our feelings are same like an innocent child. Our feelings are even clearer than the clearest water on earth. Our feelings are more fragrant than the any fragrance available on earth. Still our feelings dont get the reciprocal reply. Our feeling are taken to ride and broken like an unwanted thing. These kinds of feelings we experience in life for very few moments and times. If these feeling do not get the good response, then it is very difficult to experience them again. To experience these types of feelings we require a special experience or relation at that time. Without the special purpose it is very difficult to feel them. Therefore few people are able to experience them. These feelings are like God gift to some. Every one does not have this opportunity. Thus first of all we should we happy of us that we are chosen for this purpose. Our attention should not be on how people react to use and what response we get out of it. However our attention should we on what experience we are bestowed in this way. It is sad for some time, when we dont get the favorable response. We feel sad because our most of attention is on the outcome and not on the feelings through which we are going. It may be the true feelings of love. Here we focus more on the result of our love affair and not the feeling through which we are going. These feelings are as good as our beloved. Second these are just few chances in life to experience these feelings. Once missed, they are not going to come back again. Therefore we can make our selves strong and reduce their effect on us. Many people who does not got the opportunity to go through these feeling, also doesnt understand others. To get the equal response for our feelings same feelings are required in other persons heart. If he or she doesnt have true feelings for us, then we can never get the desired response. So in nutshell it is not the fault of us or of the other. It is only the maturity level of our feelings. We can not blame any body for it. It is like this. Some people are alive outside, but emotionally dead inside. For them one can never expect any good response. So we require to judge our feelings well and from whom we have expectation. For the maturity of our feelings we are require to more enjoy our feeling then rather guessing on the results. http://www.geocities.com/arvindkatoch1 agent required please contact at - arvindkatoch1@rediffmail.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Arvind_Katoch http://EzineArticles.com/?How-Someone-Can-Break-Our-Pure-Heart?&id=94549 cheap phentermine pills phentermine from online pharmacy cheap phentermine no prescription cheap phentermine no prior prescription
Athletes Train - Why Don't You?
by hally obermyer - Monday, 14 April 2008, 12:43 PM
Anyone in the world
By Susan Friedmann Theres nothing like watching an athlete at the top of their game -- the sprinter racing to the finish line, the star center sinking the game winning shot. They make it look absolutely effortless, as if it was the most natural thing in the world for them to perform that well. Appearances can be deceiving. What you dont see is the long, grueling hours of training and practice star athletes put in behind the scenes: the endless laps around the track with no one watching, the skill drills where that star player practices jump shot after jump shot after jump shot. The same is true for exhibiting. The truly great exhibitors dont just show up at the show and automatically know how to turn in a great performance. Theyve trained for the event, making sure that theyve got a good grasp of the fundamental skills needed and the game-day strategy critical to ensure success. What type of training routine does your exhibiting team have? Most companies, if they answered honestly, would have to say little to no time is devoted to practicing the skills needed to do a good job on the show floor. Its assumed that the skills necessary to be a good salesman or manufacturers rep in the field will automatically transfer over into the show environment. Nothing could be further from the truth. Someone who jogs everyday, even if they run for miles at a time, does not automatically turn into a top-notch marathon runner. You can work out in the weight room twice a week at the gym. That doesnt mean youre anywhere near ready to go compete in Olympic level power lifting! There are some essential differences between the everyday routine your sales reps face and the high-pressure intense situation they encounter on the show floor. From the extremely limited amount of time your team has with each attendee to the length of the event to the sheer numbers of people one talks to in the course of the day, tradeshows are a demanding event. One needs to maintain lightning quick reflexes like a boxer while performing for hours on end like a marathon runner. The only way to combine these two seemingly disparate skill sets is by training. If you want your team to break the ribbon, bring home the gold medal, claim the trophy, then you need to provide them with the training and practice opportunities theyll need to succeed. This training takes place behind the scenes yet yields very visible results. Sharpening skills for tradeshows will also improve performance in the everyday sales environment: active listening, for example, will help your team focus on the customer, truly understand their needs, and deliver accordingly. This will deepen and reinforce existing relationships, as well as make establishing new relationships easier -- after all, an existing customer will have no hesitation recommending a vendor who does so much for them! For maximum results, training efforts should be consistent throughout the year, intensifying as major events draw closer. Consider having your own Spring Training Camp sessions before the exhibiting season begins, to refresh booth skills, learn new information, and familiarize your team with the product lines and demonstrations youll be featuring. Spring Training is mandatory for the baseball crowd, and it should be mandatory for your team too! Nobody is too experienced, too important or too busy to do what is, at the core, the most important aspect of everyones job: focus on the customer. Additionally, training together can help form valuable team bonds, a critical resource when youre functioning in a high pressure environment. Many times, training is viewed as a valuable perk. This is especially true as the pool of employees skews younger: the folks entering the job market today tend to place a higher premium on knowledge for knowledges sake than previous generations did. Theyre savvy enough to realize training comes with expectations of enhanced performance -- but they also continually cite chances for education and career skills development as one of the factors they consider critical when choosing employers. If retaining your most valuable asset -- your employees -- is important to you, thats just one more reason to put training on the schedule. To recap: training is essential to ensure top notch performance for your team. For maximum results, provide training that is relevant, consistent, and of high value. Everyone should participate, with a focus on educating your staffers and strengthening team bonds. That way, when its time for your team to take to the field, they too will turn in a top notch performance -- and make it look like its the most natural thing in the world! Written by Susan A. By Rose Smith Not everyone elects to have a traditional wedding. Some love the fun and excitement of Halloween and want to share their favorite holiday with others with a marriage ceremony. Just like those "trick or treaters" that arrive at your door, your wedding guests also deserve a special treat. Here are 9 ideas for wedding favors that you can present to your guests when celebrating your Halloween themed wedding. Trick or Treat Bags Since it's Halloween, fill small paper trick or treat bags with the orange foil covered chocolate pumpkins and other candies. Halloween Candles You can purchase some very interesting molded Halloween candles in a variety of shapes and sizes (like pumpkins, ghosts, haunted houses, etc.). Wrap up in orange tulle and tie with black curly ribbon. Cauldron of Pumpkins Fill small, black plastic cauldrons with orange foil-wrapped chocolate pumpkins. Pumpkin Jars If you're on the crafty side, make candy filled pumpkin jars. First, you'll need to collect some baby food jars. Paint pumpkins around the glass with craft paint. Cover the top with orange felt and glue two felt leaves to the top. Add a small piece of dowel, painted light brown, for a stem. Fill the jar with candies. Orange Net Favors Cut 6" circles of tulle in orange and black colors. Place either candies or a small votive candle in each circle. Gather and tie off with the opposite color of ribbon. (Orange ribbon, black tulle and black ribbon, orange tulle.) Wizard's Wand Buy 1" diameter dowels and cut into 12" lengths. Paint dowels a deep purple. Apply gold stickers in shapes of stars, moon and sun. Seal with acrylic sealer. Add gold and purple streamers tied to one end. Attach a favor tag with your names and wedding date that says: "The power of our love creates a magical world. Thank you for joining us in this mystical night." Witches Broom Buy small straw brooms (available in craft stores). Wrap black and orange ribbon down the handle and tie a black bow just above the broom. Add some autumn colored silk leaves and dried flowers tucked in and glued around the bow. Pumpkin Butter Purchases small jars of pumpkin butter. It's like pumpkin pie in a jar and it's great on biscuits and crackers. Miniature Pumpkin Pies Check with a local baker to see if you could have miniature pumpkin pies made. Wrap in cellophane and tie with orange/black ribbons. Simple, unique and delicious!
